Love and loyalty run deeper than blood. By: Richelle Mead

I saw you. I saw you today, yesterday, and the day before that,
Everyday I see you. You may not realize that I’m here but I notice you, I noticed you that first day I saw you from afar, standing tall and graceful upon that lit up stage, You had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen, You reminded me of that faire maiden who of which captured dear sweet Romeo’s heart, though that had ended in such a tragic way,

Like she of the sweet Juliet, you have stolen my heart, and with it my deepest love,
You have captivated me with your beautiful face that of which is the most precious work of art,
You took my breath away as you twirled like that of the most graceful of swans,

You stole my heart when you directed that smile in my direction, my heart skipped, no, it leaped a mile. Dear sweet Elizabeth, I do believe that was your name, yes, now I remember that's what he called you before he kissed those lips. I remember feeling my heart begin to weep at the sight of my beloved in the arms of another. Elizabeth, why? Stephen? Stephen was his name, he’s the quarterback of our schools team of Lions. I remember hearing noises, I poked my head out my car window in the school's parking lot, there you stood, holding your arms over your head, tears? Yes, you were crying. Stephen stood over you yelling words which were that of the most blackest venom. He hissed your name, and kicked you hard. I reacted before I even realized what was happening. You were with child. Two or three months along. Stephen knew the cost of being a father well, goodbye football league, hello full time job at McDonalds. You begged for him to stop, but did he even listen? I think not. My fist collided with his face. He fell to the ground with a loud thud. I think I recall hearing his skull crack on impact. I quickly took  you up and rushed you to my truck and handed you my keys. Drive, drive far away from here, was my only advice before turning to face a raging man, twice my size I might add.  I was out before I could even make my move. Next thing I remember is waking up to a familiar voice crying my name. There you were. Blurry but still beautiful. You held me in your arms crying out for help. I reached up with a shaky hand and touched your cheek gently, and forced out a small squeaky hi. You smiled half heartedly and cried out in relief. Why, you asked, why did you save me? I laughed and replied because I love you.

Oh my gosh. So, so powerful. I have very few words to describe it.
