Straight Americans need... an education of the heart and soul. They must understand - to begin with - how it can feel to spend years denying your own deepest truths, to sit silently through classes, meals, and church services while people you love toss off remarks that brutalize your soul. ~Bruce Bawer, The Advocate, 28 April 1998

An old couple are walking aside an ocean at sunset. The old woman reaches into a shallow part of water and pulls up a handfull of sand. She turns to the old man and locks eyes with him. His hand touches hers as she reaches her hand back into the ocean. As the water strips away the particles of sand from her hand, the old couple slowly dissolve into the air as a salty mist.
