“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Sally was all alone. Her one companion: a candle she had bedside. It listened to all her woes, and glowed lovingly in reply, as if listening. Sally resolved to keep it burning until she found love.

If it was extinguished, she would do the same to herself.

One day, she heard a knock at her door. She opened it to a red haired youth, who invited her on a date. It was the night of her life, and they parted with a warm embrace. Back home, she stepped into her room in shock. It was dark.

        The candle had gone out.

Sally lived all alone… she had begun to give up hope of finding true love. Lighting her favorite candle, she resolved she would keep trying as long as the candle stays alive.

when it gives up and goes out, so will she.
