August 2022 Fiction Contest: Hopeless Pining

His eyes are forest green and his freckles are many. He has bewitched my body and soul eternally. But I cannot act upon my emotions, for he is a married man. A rich one at that. What would he want from me, a lowly servant? The mere idea would be ridiculed by any who could hear it. Still my feelings persist. He is kind and has good humor. And I have known him for many years. I shall not be able to be with him but I will try and make his years happy. His happiness shall be my very own.
