The Life of a Cat
I see the world passing by my window. Everyone hurrying to some unknown destination. Sometimes I wonder if they're going somewhere important, somewhere they'll find someone special, if they'll learn something new about themselves.
I watch people meet and separate. I hear them laugh and cry. I know their everyday struggles.
All I have are these thoughts and observations. I can't wander along with them to know their life or what they're going through. I'll never know where they're going, or what their dreams are. I am only allowed to wonder.
I feel their pain or their joy, but I'll never truly know the underlying reason. If I could, I would go onto the sidewalk and comfort them, or rejoice with them. I want to share the moments of their life with them. But I have to stay inside and watch as the people walk by, living their lives, not knowing that I am seeing their life with them.
Such is the life of a cat.
