The Concert
The day had come. It was finally here. This was the day I had waited months for. The day of the Imagine Dragons concert. They are my all time favorite band and I couldn’t wait to see them live. It all started on an average Saturday. My friend Amanda and I had been talking about going for what seemed like forever. Her dad must have overheard us talking about it because when he came home that day he had two tickets to the concert, one for her and one for me. We couldn’t believe it! We were actually going! From that day on it was all we talked about. I’m sure our friends were pretty annoyed with us but we didn’t care.
Now the day was here and I could barely contain my excitement. We met at my house then piled in my car and left. The whole way there we listened to their songs, anticipating how great the concert would be. We found a place to park then grabbed something to eat at a restaurant close by. About an hour before the concert began, we made our way to the arena.
The place was packed with fellow Imagine Dragons fans and it felt great. We gave the lady at the door our tickets and went inside. As we walked in I could feel how large the arena was and it was breathtaking. We found our way to the seats, which were great and right by the stage. The crowd slowly grew larger as it got closer to time to start. Before long the opening act came out and performed a few songs. I didn’t even pay attention to them because I was so excited for the real show.
All of the sudden the lights got very low and the audience started cheering. It was time. The moment I had been waiting for. The music began to play and the curtain rose. I remember yelling of excitement and sang along with them. After listening to their album many times, I knew all the words to every song. Amanda and I sang and danced and had the time of our lives.
Toward the end of the show, they talked to the audience and wanted to bring someone on stage. The crowd went crazy, everyone was screaming and shouting. “Pick me! Pick me!” echoed through the arena. I jumped up and down and raised my hands, expecting not to get called on. Then ii remember being blinded by a bright light. “You in the green shirt!” rang out across the arena. I looked down and realized I had on a green shirt. I was shocked. I pointed at myself and said “Me?”. The next thing I knew I was being escorted to the stage. People cheered and patted me on the back as I walked by. I walked up the steps and onto the stage. I was in shock. This couldn’t be happening, not to me. The lead singer asked me my name and whish song was my favorite. I replied and after he signed his guitar and handed it to me. I was so happy and shocked at the same time. They escorted me back to my seat and carried on with the concert.
After the concert ended I was still in disbelief, thinking maybe it was all just a dream. It wasn’t. I still had the guitar in my hand and felt like a celebrity when we walked out. Everyone was looking at me jealously. We got back in the car and headed back home. That night I don’t think I slept at all I was still so excited. Looking back on it, its safe to say it was the best day of my life. I will never forget that moment and will cherish it always.
