The Glitter Baby, as they would call her seemed to constantly appear in magazines and was the center of attention in the United States. It was 1984 and Jenna Winters had just launched her modeling career. Why or how they called her the Glitter baby? She had no care for that. All she did know was that she was a runaway from France, escaping her “then” life full of lies and mistrust.
( Flashback) France 1968: Eloise Smith was a 21 year old charismatic girl full of life. Life was amazing. She would soon be an actress ready to take on the world. Eloise was of wealthy parents who had both died three years prior. She had inherited the millions and carried no sympathy or remorse for their deaths. Now all she needed was the motivation to go and follow her dreams.

Kevin Winters was one of the richest men in France. He was the classic conniving, and corrupting man. His job consisted in the smuggling of sports cars that would go on sale for higher prices. Soon Kevin’s life would cross with Eloise.

Inside Kevin’s office

It’s been 21 minutes since the thought entered his mind. Maybe he should get a wife. One young, rich, and naïve. He was 41 and his years were flying by. His thoughts were disturbed when Francois, his butler came dashing in.
“Monsoir, le kir, avec des glacons like you asked.”
“Merci Francois.” answered Kevin.
“Hey Francois, what do you think of me wanting to get married?”
“Oh, Monsoir that would be amazing!” Francois answered ecstatic over the good news.

“Sante then Francois, to me finding a wife!” exclaimed Kevin.

Eloise walking down the streets of France

She was one step closer to making her dream come true. The clicking of her heels against the cement had startled her. To her surprise her thoughts had led her to a dark and deserted alley. She had made her way to end of the alley. Scared and alone, she made her way back breathing heavily. Once her mind was cleared, she realized her bag had fallen. Slowly and quietly she walked back. Someone had gotten there before her, the blurred shadow of a man was holding out her bag towards her in a polite gesture.
“Bonjour, Mademoiselle, is this your bag?” Kevin asked.
“Thanks Monsoir,” blubbered Eloise.
“Please, call me Kevin,”
“Alright, merci Kevin,” agreed Eloise, “I’m sorry but I really do need to get a move on.”
“Mademoiselle, what’s your name?” pleaded Kevin.
“Eloise Smith, Monsoir.”
“If you are looking for a job, I do need an extra maid to help around the house,” retorted Kevin.
“If you are interested, please call this number,” handing her a crumpled piece of paper.

At Eloise’s apartment

That evening Eloise phoned the number. Francois answered.
“You must be Eloise, Monsoir Kevin’s future wife,” implored Francois.
“I’m sorry what was that?” ordered Eloise.
“Forget about it, comment allez-vous?”
“Je vais bien, merci,” Eloise answered unsure of what to think.
“Very well, if you would like the job, be here at 10 am sharp tomorrow.” sang Francois.
“Merci Monsoir.”

“Monsoir! Monsoir Kevin!” screamed Francois.
“You are one bon mot man!”
“She fell for it.”
Kevin was working on some papers, and looked up with an evil smirk on his face.
“Great, I’ll be expecting her tomorrow for the formal ceremony,” answered Kevin.

Eloise knocking at Kevin’s manor

Swaying side to side, she waited impatiently. All she hoped was that she would get the job. Francois answered the door.
“Bonjour, Eloise.”
“Bonjour Francois.”
“Please go to Monsoir Kevin’s office, two doors down the hall to the right, immediately!”Francois demanded.
Eloise made her way towards the office. Eloise knocked twice. A low muffled voice answered.
“Come in.”
She opened it and took a couple of steps inside. The strong stench of tobacco burned her eyes. Kevin sat behind his desk smoking a cigar, staring intensely at the newspaper he was reading. Feeling a presence of someone in the room he looked up.
“Oh, Bonjour Eloise!”
“Bonjour!” Eloise answered.
“Sorry for the short notice, but when you work with us we need you to sign a contract for specific purposes,” stated Kevin.
“Alright, whatever will get me the job”
“We need a witness, Francois! Francois!” Kevin screamed.
As if on cue, Francois entered and stood silently.
“Let’s begin, shall we!” stated Kevin.
“Sign here, here too, and over here!” barked Kevin.
He pointed at a couple of blank lines. Eloise signed.
“Congratulations Eloise, you are monsoir Kevin’s wife,” Francois answered enthusiastically.
Eloise did not comprehend at all what was said.
“Qu’est-ce que c’est?” questioned Eloise.

Eloise’s baby is coming

Eloise had awoken to a kicking in her stomach. She was sweating and breathing heavily. The baby was due. She tapped Kevin’s shoulder. He didn’t wake up.
“Kevin! Kevin!” she screamed.
“The baby is coming!”
“What do you want me to do?”
“At least act like you care! You married me now deal with it!” she cried.
“Okay, Okay, stop crying,” answered Kevin.

“I’ll name her Jenna. Jenna Winters,”Eloise answered, “Do you like it?”
“Look Eloise, I frankly don’t care, she is going straight to an all girls school,” stated Kevin.
“But, But-”
“No Eloise, she is such a disgrace, quelle horreur for my family.’
Eloise cried. She didn’t want other people raising her baby. But Kevin warned her.

Jenna’s 14th birthday at the all girl’s school

Jenna was so happy today. Her mother was coming to visit her. She only saw her mom twice a year. Once on her birthday, and once during Christmas. She wished to live with her mom, but she would never let her. She wanted to meet her dad and show him that he made a big mistake leaving her there for 14 years of her life.
“Mom! Mom! I’m so happy you came!” Jenna answered excitedly running towards Eloise. Jenna hugged her mom’s waist never wanting to let go.
“Happy Birthday my little Glitter Baby!” answered Eloise, “You want to know what your gift this year is?”
“Please tell me mom, Please! Please!” answered Jenna begging her mom.
“You are coming home with me, for good!” answered Eloise.
Jenna was so happy, she danced in circles around her mom. Finally her wish was coming true.

Jenna entering her new home

Jenna entered behind Eloise. The house was enormous and a bit intimidating.
“Kevin! Come and meet your daughter!” Eloise screamed.
A tall old man descended from the stairs. Jenna stared at Kevin, seeing him made her think: What was the age difference between her mom and Kevin? Her mom was so young and Kevin was just wrinkles and grey hair.
“Bonjour, Jenna” answered Kevin,” Happy Birthday!”
Jenna hid behind her mom’s skirt.
“Don’t be shy, come and give your old father a hug!”
Jenna walked towards her father and hugged him. Eloise could not believe the audacity Kevin had to show his so called “affection” towards Jenna. In reality he didn’t care for her.

Jenna just thinking

Jenna was really starting to like her father, they had funny conversations. She especially liked when he brought her apple pie a la mode or her favorite café au lait. She got up from her bed and went to go look for her father. She found him outside smoking a cigar. Kevin heard footsteps, he turned around.
“Oh, Jenna come here I’ve meaning to talk to you”
Jenna walked over and sat on her father’s lap, just like she should have years before.
“Yes, father?,” Jenna said innocently.
“Jenna, do you like your mother?”
“I love my mother, with all my heart!” Jenna answered, wondering why her father had asked her such nonsense.
“I see.”
“What for?” Jenna asked.
“I’m going to tell you something serious,” he began.
“You know it was your mothers idea to put you in the all-girls school, the minute you were born.”
Jenna could not believe what she was hearing. She felt like the whole world had froze.
“And that’s not all, she felt like you were the biggest burden for her,” he finished explaining.
Jenna began to cry. She loved her mom, Was she even capable of doing that? Jenna left and ran to her room barely seeing through her tears. How could her mom do that? Jenna thought she could trust her.

Kevin’s thoughts

“Perfect!” Kevin thought to himself. Kevin had done an excellent job turning Jenna against her own mother. He was halfway there in ruining Jenna’s life. He complimented himself in creating the caring father role. But he truly didn’t care for Jenna. He despised not only for coming to live in his house, but for being the daughter of Eloise. He finished his thought with an evil laugh.

Jenna is going insane

It’s been months since Jenna has spoken to her mother. She would never be able to face her again. She stood at the corner of her room and slowly let herself sink pulling at her brunette locks. She thought she had found a place to belong. But she hadn’t. Jenna got up and went to the bathroom. She got a hold of scissors and started cutting her hair until it was just aboveher ears.
“I hate you mom!” she told herself.
“I hate everyone who ruined my life!”
Maybe she should start a whole new life and forget about this one. Yes! That would be the answer. So she packed her belongings, grabbed some money, and boarded a plane heading to the United States.

Eloise heading to Jenna’s room

Eloise was worried; Jenna hadn’t spoken to her in a long time. She had become very distant. Eloise climbed the stairs slowly, scared to awake Jenna. She entered the room and stood next to Jenna’s bed.
“Sweetie, I need to talk to you,” Eloise whispered.
She touched Jenna’s quilt and nobody underneath. She screamed. Where was her baby? She walked to the bathroom and saw chunks of hair on the floor. No! Eloise knew Kevin had something to do with Jenna’s disappearance.
