The sniper

It was two p.m., me and my partner were called to take out hostiles as our armored vehicle passed by the red zone. We took a vehicle with us to a small plateau far away from the red zone but it not too far away. We had a clear sight of the long dusty road. Felt like it spanned for miles. The road had a few buildings with some people living there. As our armored vehicle was coming closer to the objective, we got ready, we had placed a few S-Mines around our perimeter, and I setup my NTW-20. It came in a suitcase, because it had many parts that were easy to put on and set up. I carried that suitcase everywhere I went on my sniping missions, it felt like an extension of my body. It had a pistol compartment in incase of a nearing hostile in our perimeter. We had just 10 minutes to get ready for our mission, me and my partners had our desert camo on to stay hidden in the terrain. I had my NTW-20 ready and my partner had his binoculars to help me spot the enemy's and make sure no one walks up behind me and kill me.

We lied flat on the ground prone, minutes felt like seconds to us and all I could hear in my head was "be calm, be professional, be smart, and let science be with you". Two minutes later our communicators blared "Lt. Yeltsin, Lt.Riley are you ready? We are entering the red zone...over". I took a big gulp and responded "me and Lt.Riley are ready...". We saw a large tan vehicle driving along the long dusty road, It had a gun on the roof of the vehicle. It was holding five passengers from the U.S which were our comrades. They neared the gate of the red zone, they drove slowly along the buildings slowly watching each window and door as they drove by.

Lt.Riley had spotted a person in the windows looking a the vehicle he seemed awfully suspicious... The man raised his hand and out came a man out the window with a RPG-7. The people in the truck quickly drove backwards at a high speed, and the man in the window shot the propelled grenade towards the vehicle. The scene was devastating we saw nothing but smoke and a huge blast. Our communicators blared "sniper squad you have permission to fire over" my spotter gave my the coordinates of the target told me the wind speed and his height and width. Atlast I had a clear shot I took no time and pulled the trigger on one armed hostile, the powerful Denel NTW-20 toke no exceptions and knock backed the hostile, killing him. The smoke finally cleared and the vehicle was ok and everyone appeared to be ok, the roof gunner quickly started shorting at the armed foes. We picked off a more people all of them were K.I.A by my staggering NTW, it's not the worlds most powerful sniper rifle for nothing. The vehicle was near the gate of the buildings and shorting there way out, until in one window a man with a Strela-2 was ready to blow the American vehicle to hell.

My partner quickly looked at the extremely lethal hostile, he quickly gave me the coordinates his height and width. I took no time, I had only seconds to drop him, I held my breath, held my sniper rifle steady, pulled the trigger and my sniper rifle roared like an African lion. The bullet flies like Peregrine Falcon flying straight and perfect. The man with the Strela-2 had been hit straight in the head hitting his brain he fell back violently and my spotter said the "miracle" word K.I.A.. The fleeing terrorist had gathered the rest of their men in some old rusty trucks and drove away in the dusty desert ahead. The civilians were in the buildings avoiding the violent gun fire, luckily no civilians were harmed. Back up and paramedics had arrived to the scene. Luckily the men inside the vehicle were perfectly fine but the vehicle was shot extensively. Many of the civilians were extracted to a different location of the gun fight because it was too unsafe for them there. They frisked them and checked them all and drove them to a U.S to relocate them somewhere else.

The general commander had gave us a congratulatory good job for saving the men in the hummer, he said if it wasn't for the heroic work of you two we would have lost 5 proud American soldiers. We had received medals in our heroic debut. It felt like an amazing achievement to save lives, and serve our nation, and that's what I'll continue to keep doing.
