Stuck between life and a hard place
She held the bottle, clutched in one hand, that Janie did. She said goodbye to the world, hidden in her bathroom, that Janie did. She said hi to me, every day, that Janie did. She took her brother to soccer, every game and practice, that Janie did. She saved my life, more than once, that Janie did. She loved her mom, even if her mom didn't deserve it, that Janie did. She acted like she was fine, while inside she was breaking apart, that Janie did. I stared at my noose, that I did. I couldn't stop her, or save her, that I did. I lift my foot and my last thought is: Janie, can you ever forgive me?
