Leap years and hamsters

“Duffy leave me alone and go poop in you cage!” It’s my birthday…February 29th, and was I doing...shouting at my hamster. I hate him, he just poops everywhere t and then when he has no more food to poop out he goes ahead eats more and pops out more of his disgusting little round poop at me again … I hate him. My mom always asks me “why I don’t get rid of him’, I never respond but I'm always thinking in my head… ‘MOM CANT YOU SEE IT! I LIVE ALONE I HAVE TROUBLE TALKING TO GIRLS AND I CANT LIVE WITHOUT YOU HELPPING ME EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF MY LIFE DUFFY IS MY ONLY COMPANY!”

I decided to leave my small and crowed, and dirty apartment and take Duffy for a walk. I mean after all, it was my birthday, I had the obligation of at least seeing the sun.

A red glowing car filled with hot girls passed by and they are all looking at me and gossiping and I think it’s about me. I understand them , I know I am one of those dorky kids that are fat, have rounded glasses, kind of like the ones in Harry Potter, and wear’s those hats that are colorful and have a propeller in the top. I admit I am one of those dorky kids but, when people see me I wish they would keep their comments to them self’s.

Then the worst thing I could have imagined happened… My freaking hamster pooped on my shoe... WHILE WE WERE WALIKG... to summarize my life sucks.

I leaned down to clean my shoe with the wipes I had in my pocket. When I turned around the bright red car had stopped. All the girls were laughing like hyenas. I think they were laughing at my butt but because apparently they were pointing at it. Why does everyone bother me. I know I’m different, so? That’s no reason to be a bully and those girls were too mean it’s just like high school all over again all the bullies beating me up. Then I started to feel something weird, I got a nice, good feeling towards the one that was laughing the hardest.

Suddenly the girl I had weird feeling for opened the door. She was beautiful, brown glowing hair that bounced up and down, hazel colored eyes, skinny like the length of my favorite chocolate, tan but not the ugly tan, just that perfect tone of brown. Her smile with the pearl white color in her teeth. She was the girl of my dreams. Suddenly, I heard a voice, she was talking to me, and I almost fainted, I was so nervous my brain had almost completely shut down. I started blushing.

“Hey,” she said with the sweetest voice I would ever hear in my life. “How are you? I’m Katherine.”

Katherine, that name was perfect, it was elegant and at the same time simple. It fit her perfectly; there is no other name you could give a woman that perfect.

My mind was blank I had no idea of what to say. I was nervous I really liked this girl I had no idea what to say all the words in my mind were ‘ask for her number, asked for her number’. I knew she was going to make fun of me I had no idea what to tell her. Then the words came out… “Can I have your number?”

Then I saw it in her face. She was at that point where you can’t hold you’re laughter any more. It came out, she stared laughing at me again. How I could I have been so dumb? She was obviously there to bother me she didn’t want anything to do with me. She started walking back to her car. Then she starts talking to them, the next part was predictable, they burst out laughing too. There is nothing more hurtful to your self-esteem than that, but I was used to it.

I started walking back home I was sad, and I hated being treated like that, they couldn’t have made my birthday worse, but you never know because just then Duffy, that little sneaky hamster pooped on my shoe again. I saw a supermarket; I went in because I had used all my wipes the time before. I enter and I was freezing cold and filled with brightness and I see something inexplicable, something that I just couldn’t believe something unplanned.

I saw a supermarket; I went in because I had used all my wipes the time before. I enter and I was freezing cold and filled with brightness and I see something inexplicable, something that I just couldn’t believe something unplanned.

I stumble upon my parents in the supermarket; I walk with them for a while and then decided to go home with them. We are on the street walking when my mother notices that she forgot to buy shampoo. We enter the new supermarket and I notice something weird, the big green sign on every aisle were not that noticeable, they were all covered in white paper.

Suddenly my parent Shout “NOW”, then all the papers covering the signs fall sown and the clear and empty super market starts filling in with an bunch of people, all my family and their friends were there. I close my eyes to take in all the strange things that had happened to me, out of all of them this was the weirdest one. I thought my family didn’t care about me.

I was relaxed and concentrated about how my life was miserable when a song starts interrupting me. “Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday deer Fre-e-d!, happy birthday to you!” everyone sang. Those words had never passed though my head, at least not with my name between them. I had a weird feeling inside my stomach, a feeling I had never felt before, I think I was happiness. For the first time I got a sign that my family cared about me, that they loved me. I started laughing and shouting I look like one of those little kids that can’t behave, but I really didn’t care anymore what people thought of me I just wanted to live my life free without thinking about how other saw me.

My parents called me up though those wired microphones they have at the supermarkets, I meet them up and they tell me about how everything was planed. They gave Duffy too much food for him to poop all day. They talked with those girls to make me sad and angry. Taking away all of my wipes for me to have to go into the closest supermarket in the one which they were in so they would meet me and take me to the other supermarket to meet up with the rest of my family. I had never heard of any one go through so much trouble to make me happy. They tell me that in half an hour they would be at my apartment to sing happy birthday. I start walking back towards my apartment when I step in something squishy. I look down and I see my now dead hamster lying there in the ground making me feel horrible for killing a hamster.
