cheer up;
“Oh, he also told me to give this to you too.”
She handed me a folded up rectangle of sorts, with the colored-pencil shading of a clumsy hand peeking through the folds.
I eyed it warily, worried about what I might find.
“Don’t worry, just open it.”
My fingers began to pry against the paper, and with one, two openings, I found a bear smiling up at me, with a rainbow pouring out of his hand, colored in with admirable yet still adorably sloppy effort, saying, “a rainbow for you!”
And my lips pulled up into a smile, and I could feel the different strands of the sky weave through my fingers, and I inexplicably thought of you and all you were, the glowing beacon in my dark night.
