Solo Christmas

It’s December 25th. I smell the pine scented candle and am instantly merry. The tree is packed with presents and I cannot stop myself from peaking. I sneak to the pile and see the names written on the package: Mary, Eve, Nick. Tears pour from my eyes as I remember the car accident last night.
