A Day of Chaos
It was a quiet and cool winter morning, the only sound was the birds chirping and the cold winter breeze whooshing through the sky. It was December 3rd, 2017 around 11 am. My brother and I were upstairs playing Xbox. While my mom was downstairs working on redoing the countertops in the kitchen.
“It's my turn! You've already played for an hour!” I said angrily.
“No it's not, I still have 15 minutes left!” exclaimed my brother.
All of a sudden my mom screams so loud that the hairs on the back of my neck stuck straight up. My brother and I came rushing down the stairs. There is probably just a spider or something like that I thought.
But when I got downstairs I saw it was something much worse than a spider. The paper my mom put down to stop paint from dripping on the floor was on fire. I could feel the blazing hot flames from over 15 feet away. My brother called 911, while my mom was trying to get the fire out and I rushed to get the dogs outside. Shortly after my brother called 911 a police officer came by with a fire extinguisher. Then several fire trucks and firemen showed up. Some of my neighbors heard the sirens and came outside to see what was going on.
My dog Macy got so scared of all the sirens and people that she ran back inside the house. I screamed and said, “Macy wait comeback!”. I almost ran after her into the house, but my mom stopped me. My heart was pounding; I felt as if my eyes were about to start flooding with tears. But I knew what I needed to, and that was to pray. I needed the support and the reassurance that only God could give me right then and there. I started praying to God asking him to make sure that she was ok and was going to be fine. I also kept asking him to help me or one of the firefighters figure out where she was. Then suddenly out of nowhere, I have a thought of where she would most likely be. It was as if the praying had helped me figure out where she was.
After I had remembered where her safe spot was I went to go tell my mom, but right as my mom was going over to tell one of the firemen another fireman came out with Macy in his hands. I had felt great relief, I was so elated to see that she was ok. I rushed over to make sure she was not hurt and to give her a big hug.
One of our neighbors came over and gave us a leash for our other dog. Then another neighbor gave us a few blankets because of how cold it was out there. We put her in my mom's car so she wouldn't run back inside. Then I went and gave her a blanket and sat with her to make sure she wasn't scared. That was one of the scariest moments in my life, but also one of the greatest moments of my life because I had realized how great God is, and how much he helped me through that time of chaos.
