Flying

After going through security and waiting for an hour at the gate because of a delay, he was very excited to board the plane. As he was boarding the plane, he realized that he had never seen that many different people of many different cultures before. Some had different colored skin or wore different styles of clothing. He tried to imagine how others might feel about getting on a plane like this. When they got to their seat he noticed a tiny window just to his left. Outside he could see tiny figures in orange vests carrying things around and putting things in various places. He also saw those figures driving funny looking vehicles up and down the rainy runway and some of them servicing other planes. Taking off was shaky and scary though, but when the plane got up into the air he could see for miles. He saw skyscrapers, streets, and even their parent’s favorite restaurant, Curly’s. He also saw the mountains that he had never really paid attention to, snow tipped and covered in a blanket of green that he thought were trees. Everything got smaller and smaller until they reached the clouds. It was sunny up in the clouds and it felt happy, unlike below, where it was still stormy and sad.  He began to become aware that there was nothing left to see, but he still looked out the window into the endless stream of white and grey until his eyelids closed and he fell asleep.

In this piece I tried to create images and connect them to feelings that the main character has.
