My name is Apollo. I had a flight to Australia on Sunday, the 22nd. I was really exited to go. I could see the Kagaroos, Koalas and all the cool animals. The flight was 25 hours or something like that. I could go see all the islands since it was a two and a half week trip.

We could swim, we could go on a tour, I don’t know. We went to the airport. When we got to the airport, our flight was delayed two hours. “We just have to hang out for three hours.” My mom told me. I was not looking foward to it.

We checked our luggage, went through securtity and went to the seating area. My mom was just on her phone so I decided to go get food. I went to McDonalds and got a six piece nugget meal. It took me about an hour to finish because I was paying more attention to my Youtube videos. Me and my mom both fell asleep for the next hour or so.

When we woke up it was time to board. After we boarded, the flight attendant passed out blankets and pillows. The flight was taking off in ten minutes. The flight took off and my mom was looking out the window while I was putting on a movie. I was watching the movie Dumb and Dumber. I finished the movie and turned to see my mom sound asleep.

I tried to fall asleep but I just couldn’t. Two hours of just sitting in the plane seat and they still haven’t passed out dinner. It was five O’ clock and it still was not dinner time. Finnally, the flight attendant spoke on the microphone. “Dinner will be passed out, there are menus in the pouch in front of you.” I looked at the menu. There were only five things on the menu. Then again were on an airplane.

The flight attendant came up to my mom and asked what we would like. I asked for a cold chicken sandwich and my mom ordered a garden salad. In ten minutes they came to us with  our food. I ate the food so fast. My stomach was not feeling great. I was so tired. I had not even realized how late it was. I ended up falling asleep in no time. I woke from my nap to a loud bang. I looked out the window and we had crashed. We were in the middle of the ocean. The captain told us to put on our life vests and get on the inflatable rafts. I tried to open the door but it was jammed. The water was up to my shoulders. My mom and I thought we were done for.

The water filled the whole plane and everyone was holding their breath. Finally, the door flew open but everyone at once tried to leave so for some people it was over. My mom and I make it out and saw only three others made it with us. We grabbed the raft and sat, freezing in the middle of nowhere. There were three helicopters circling us. And we saw boats coming after us.

All of us were now smiling but also sad. One of the men on the raft lost his wife in the crash. I’m guessing the captain sent an S.O.S before we crashed. The boat picked us up, gave us insulated blankets and searched for more people. They didn’t find anyone so we got driven back to shore. My mom would never fly ever again in her life.

I wrote these two pages in class for an assignment. I was free writing and came across this story.
