My friends and I were walking home from school one day when I said, “I went to the store yesterday.”

My friend Emma looked confused and asked, “Some more what?”

I became as confused as she was and asked, “What do you mean?”

“You said ‘I want s’more if you may,’” Emma explained.

“No, no, no,” my other friend Marissa said. “She said she bent the floor all the way.”

“No, I said ‘I went to the store yesterday.’”

Emma looked even more bewildered. “To prevent this more every day?”

“English civil war power play?” Marissa guessed.

“Radioactive decay?”

“No, you’re not even close. I said ‘I went to the store yesterday,” I repeated, annunciating every syllable.

“Ohhhhh,” they said with comprehension on their faces.

“Understand?” I asked.

“You said you would do our chores as we say.”
