She felt the edges of the world curl up in the palm of her hand, and when she began to see crimson line the crevices between her fingers, she inhaled sharply and closed her eyes tightly.
Because she was afraid, afraid to look, afraid to feel, afraid to know, how far she had fallen this time.
“Let go,” the skies whispered.
So she smiled through the raw scores of her unread verdict to the demons, breathed in the last scent of familiarity in the world, and let herself go down, down to the bottom of the sea.
