His hair sticks up at the top of his head, dyed green and yellow, bobbing up and down as he walks down the street. He wears a dusty black jacket and jeans. He was kicking the stoneson the sidewalk with one foot as he passed, humming a rock music.

Characterization 1: Description of appearance. His green and yellow hair that is sticking up shows that he isn’t a gentleman that wears a tie and snits all the time.
Characterization 2: Description of movements/actions. His ‘humming a rock music’ indicates the kind of the music he likes, also shows he isn’t a good mannered gentleman that wears a tie everyday.
Both kind of descriptions help characterizing him, his interests, his characters, etc.
