August 2022 Fiction Contest: Calisto's Children

Calisto is a beautiful being. She is a kind woman and loves to gift the people of earth. But not very often recently. The people haven’t been kind. So today she’ll gift a little selkie boy with a pelt made of stars! It’s one of her favorite gifts. What she didn’t expect was for this boy to be used instead of cherished. The poor selkie doesn’t have a pod anymore. She can’t help him but she can only hope he’s saved. Years later she looks back at the boy to see him thriving with a better family. Calisto was very thankful.
