When my Sister Was Born
It was a sunny day in early September, and the school day was about to end. The school day was rough, I scraped my knees, and I got homework because of it. Once I get home I eat and then go to football, my regular day during the school year. Once I get home, I take a shower and I start doing my homework. Once I was almost done, I was looking for a sharpie to name my poster. I look around in my room, my sister's room, then I look at my parents' room and I look, and I look, then after 5 minutes I find something weird.
I go to my mom and ask,
“What is this weird thermometer?”
“It is not a thermometer; it is a thing to see if I am pregnant... I was going to tell you soon,” my mom answered. I was in complete shock,
“Is it a boy or a girl?” I asked with excitement.
“We do not know yet if there will be a gender reveal in 2 months,” she answered with a smile on her face.
One weird weekend my mom decided it would be a clever idea to go to the beach. We packed and left, once we made it to Dhermi which I do now realize that Dhermi wasn’t the best place to go to. We went directly to the rocky beach and started swimming; my mom stayed at the shore because she was scared to swim. Once it was lunch time, we went to a restaurant which was exceptionally good. We ordered and started talking about the name we should give the baby. Once the food came, we started eating, and the main course came; the lobster. We were eating and me, my sister and my dad were laughing because of a joke he made. Then I looked at mom why isn't she laughing? She took a sip of water then 20 seconds later her eyes shut, and she fell off her chair, hit the ground and just laid there motionless. We rushed straight to her. We shook her and tried to wake her up. I didn’t know what to do my ears started ringing and my vision started being from 1st person, it seemed as if I was watching a video. 2 minutes later, with the help of some people claiming to be doctors, she woke up with a massive lump on her head because of the fall, and she later said that she saw her life flash in front of her eyes. Something similar happened 2 more times at home.
Two months later the gender reveal was right around the corner, and we were all overly excited. Once the day came, we went to the gender reveal and we had fun because there were a lot of people. After 1 hour of talking and taking pictures and everyone came, we decided it was time to do the reveal. There was a black balloon, and we all counted down from 5, 5 4 3 2 1 POP, but the confetti inside was gold... then out of nowhere a giant baby mascot dressed fully in pink came running out of nowhere. Everyone started clapping and laughing, and it was clear that it was a girl.
One week after the event of the gender reveal we were eating dinner at home on a Friday and my dad out of nowhere said “I know what her name is going to be.”  We all looked at him in confusion. “I had a dream” he said, “I had a dream last night where she was being born and she stood up looked at me and said My name is Anna”. We looked at him confused but at the same time we all unconsciously agreed. It was a weird moment of shock but at the same time it made sense.
Then on the night of February 2, 2021, Anna was born. I was at home with my sister and my nanny wondering when she was going to be born and if we will see her before going to sleep. The next day I woke up and I still couldn’t find my mom and my dad, I went to eat breakfast and called my dad “Where are you and mom?” I asked, “We are at the hospital we're going to be home tomorrow at 1” he answered, “Alright see you tomorrow I guess” and the call ended. And after what felt like a week of waiting my parents and baby sister were home.
Once we tired my sister out because of wanting to hold her and look at her, we finally were able to continue our day without wanting to hug her a little bit too hard. We wanted to play with her all day and take care of her, but we couldn’t because she was still too young. 3 months later Anna learned to crawl, then a month later she could walk. A couple weeks after that we went to the same restaurant that my mom fainted in, and Anna ate her first actual food that wasn’t baby powder. And that’s the main thing that happened in the period when my youngest sister was born. Now my sister is 2, she can walk and talk. She can't make a full-on conversation, but she understands what you are trying to tell her. She likes to play a lot instead of watching the TV a lot of the time and I think this is something that is very nice, and this can make her smarter and more sociable further on in life.
