Manipulated oil background and collaged “I miss my nickel.” at the bottom. The quarter is a representation of growth from the nickel, and the nickel represents being 5 or ‘childhood’ in general. Though a lost childhood is missed, growth has taken place both physically and emotionally. The year on the quarter is the year the author was 5.

wow that deep. i got this sense of almost emptiness and the blue still made it seem like it wasnt misery either. Just longing. :) for such a seemingly simple painting this is terrific.
