The Tiniest Imperfections
Yesterday
I was nailed in the nose
By an unintentional swing
With an unwanted result
And yesterday
(When people asked)
I laughed and said
'You should see the other guy'
But yesterday
Was easier when my nose was cut
And my eyes were black
From impact
Today
I rose from morning slumber
And looked in the fragmented mirror
There was a hint of a scar
And today
I realized how much I enjoy them
These tiny imperfections
Make me feel comfortable in my skin
But today
Lasts only a few hours
And by tomorrow
We'll be back to yesterday
