Lies
Santa Claus. A magical man that brings you gifts.
On a cool, winter morning, you wake up to colorful presents under a tree.
“He’s real,” they say. Some may even believe it. Santa is not real.
“I want to be a superhero,” an eager little kid would share.
A soft pat on the back. Wide, hopeful eyes.
“You can be anything you want to be,” they say. Kids will believe it. You cannot be anything you want to be.
“I want to be like them,” a freshman admires upperclassmen.
Followers. Friends. Parties.
Wrong. Peer pressure, anxiety, depression.
“Everyone is born equal,” they say. A human being at birth.
Young, impressionable. Smiles from ear to ear.
“You are born equal.” Wrong.
They tell lies.
Santa Claus is not real. Your parents buy you Christmas presents.
You cannot be anything you want to be. You need more than a mindset.
Being “popular” does not mean happiness. It is a major cause of anxiety.
Not everyone is born equal. Your wealth determines your worth. Your skin color determines your worth. Your gender determines your worth. Your sexualtiy determines your worth.
We are not equal.
It’s time for a change.
