I took this picture at Middle Creek, Pennsylvania. While following the trails around the place I found these trees with a slash of red paint across their trunks. When I asked the commissions office later, they said the trees had a disease and needed to be cut down. The red reminded me of a bleeding wound that will eventually kill the trees, hence the name "The Bleeding Trees".

I think it was retorical, saying that marking on the trees hurts them and its ironic that its red spray paint

wow thats sad...ive never heard of trees having diseases
