My friends and I couldn't figure out what kind of bug this is when we saw it in Germany, so I took a few pictures.

Our guide said it was the in-between stage of a caterpillar to a butterfly...we were like "uhhh...that'd be a coccoon, but thanks?"

Tis a cicada! (I think)  They are the awesome-est bugs ever! haha And I totally envy you - I would love to go to Germany!
